Bigger Than Sound tells the story of Phoenix-based concert promotion company Stateside Presents and its founder, Charlie Levy. The film follows Charlie from his days booking shows at Arizona State University and venue Nita’s Hideaway to the opening of his very own venue—the Crescent Ballroom in downtown Phoenix. Featuring interviews with Jim Adkins of Jimmy Eat World, Sam Means of The Format and merch company Hello Merch, Nate Ruess of The Format and Fun., Miniature Tigers, and Jeremiah Gratza of Stateside Presents, Bigger Than Sound paints a picture not just of Charlie’s work and ambition, but also of the evolution of Phoenix’s live music scene from the late ’90s to today.
